Project need

We need to complete our website (we're so grateful you’re reading this).

>>>>Crucial need: to improve our current demo site or redo it; e.g., to add at least a few more pages.
>>For one, we want to move and/or add both a few photos and a few pieces of text.
>>Need: simple but improved design (e.g., to improve consistency).
>>*That is our essential project need. The below aspects would be a huge help, too, but if not doable, we would still be able to move forward.

>>>>2nd need: we would also want, if possible, a better design, and improvement in terms of functionality for mobile (etc.).
>>We would like a more professional looking site, and improved design. (We don’t have a formal logo yet. But, if possible, we would appreciate if you could design our site in an evocative/BMEAS-relevant way.)
>>We want the functionality to seem adequately professional (for a small non-profit …though we are confident we will grow our work extensively this year).

>>>>Secondary issue (any help or advice greatly appreciated, though it’s not at all important compared with the ‘crucial need’ above): --To decide/figure re moving from Google Sites; e.g., to figure if Google Sites can improve a few problems that arose upon launching.

[We are listing the shortest time-span in the time-span question (below). But to get a fuller version of the project, per above, it would take more hours, and presumably more than the 1-3 weeks we listed.] We work with some of the most under-represented US populations. We provide core academic and wellness education. Our holistic model offers a crucial way to benefit people dealing with challenging circumstances. To reach such individuals, advocate for programming for them, and grow BMEAS (so as to fulfill our mission), we absolutely need a solid website.

Our number one priority now is the site. A decent site (and hopefully a strong, professional one) will impact every aspect of our work, our organization, and our future.

Due to the intensity of our mission, we need to demonstrate at least the basic professional public standard: the site is crucial.

Our team of over 20 active volunteers and our informal network of over 100 educators and allied professionals, is spread around the US and world. This site will enable us to reach deeply into our communities (and our networks). The site will bind our work and better connect us, plus of course connecting others to our work. It will provide inspiration and support far beyond, which is key to our vision of sharing our decades-honed methods, notably with those who often lack the access and means.

Your completing this project will benefit this work in an absolutely profound way. E.g.:
--We can then launch programming that we have readied in multiple new locations.
--We have meetings lined up with civic leaders and donors (we have strong personal connections with major-city mayors and know governors, e.g.-- we can call for meetings once the site is done).
--Our team and network have done educational and non-profit work for decades. We have broad ties. With the site done, we will execute across-the-board outreach. The pitch, rolodexes, and campaign are ready.

There are many more ways the site will positively impact the world. We’d love to discuss more about these, too! We work hard to walk the talk. We have no salaried staff but we give 75+ hours/week to BMEAS work (at times 150 hours/week). As longtime non-profit leaders, we have managed large staff, including IT/web. Our team includes tech professionals (e.g., an incoming board member is an IBM manager with dozens of patents; an advisor is a tech company CEO).

This is our top priority, so we will be completely responsive, 7 days/week, usually from morning till night.

In other jobs, we designed and ran volunteer programs: e.g., a months-long campaign with 500+ volunteers; a years-long educational non-profit program with over 50 interns and many volunteers. We have the utmost regard for such work (we ourselves are BMEAS volunteers).

We have a strong sense of site goals, not least since many of us hail from our communities. E.g., our board is 50% under-represented minorities and has LGBTQ, foster, and adoptive parent representation –and our newly-voted-in board members are 100% minorities and immigrants, including an indigenous Mexican.

Note: we just created our extremely limited current site, due to external deadlines. It has been seen by a handful of people, perhaps …so we can completely redo it. Our volunteer who was to finish it has been diagnosed with a serious disease and cannot.

We can say with total certitude that we will implement your work immediately, and that the site will be fully central to all our activities going forward.

Organization's mission

BMEAS is focused on engendering a wellness- and creativity-driven desire for learning, engaging student-driven curiosity to inspire critical thinking in a supportive environment.

A wellness-based foundation supports students to help them embrace our inquiry-based learning model. Through their passion and our teachers’ facilitation, students can thrive academically and socially.

We work to embrace individuals and families at all levels of learning and need, with a goal to educate people of all ages, notably lower-income individuals. In particular, we aim to foster:
--curiosity through exploratory activities,
--creativity through regular incorporation of the arts and by solving problems in new and exciting ways,
--well-being via a holistic approach to focus on students as individuals, as scholars, and as community members,
--tenacity by inspiring students to achieve the highest academic levels.
